Job Description
Summary:
Manufacture Rail assembly components / parts by reading blueprints and drawings, aligning
components and using Hand tools, Manual machines and CNC machines to complete Quality fabricated subcomponents for the assembly process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine the requirements for metal fabrication for rail products.
• Cut, bend, and shape metal components using a range of fabrication equipment such assaws, lathes, drill presses, mills, brake press and grinders.
• Assemble and construct metal products, ensuring that the final product is accurate,functional, and meets the required specifications.
• Take accurate measurements of work piece and gauges for production
• Perform equipment and tooling Preventative Maintenance as required.
• SS Clean and maintain work area.
• Focus on maintaining quality and craftsmanship in the products fabricated
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• High school diploma or equivalent experience in related discipline; a certification in metal plus
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
• Proven experience as a Fabricator or a similar role in a manufacturing/fabrication environment Fundamental knowledge of adhesive and fasteners.
• Strong technical knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, tools, and machinery
• Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the fabrication process
• Must have and demonstrate excellent conceptual skills, process improvement, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation skills, supply management, tooling, coordination, inventory control, attention to detail, and judgment
• Must have working command of the English language• Must be able to read, write and interpret the English language
• Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (basic verbal instructions, simple written memos and instructions)
• Basic computer skills preferred
NICE TO HAVES, BUT NOT NECESSARY:
More experience in the job than required or have worked on trains or rail cars before.
