Job Description
Slurry (Paint) Operator
Hours: 2nd Shift | 2:30pm-11:00pm M-F
Payrate: $16.00/hr.
Summary
This position will also operate the grit blaster. It is a small department of 5 employees. including the supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Conducts oneself according to the verbal and written instructions given by Production and Quality Departments, and according to Internal policies, procedures, and standards of behavior.
- Must be able to prepare parts for painting including ability to tape part edges/areas accurately.
- Understands paint spray technique and can lay down paint evenly and smoothly (without runs or voids)
- Mixes slurry paint(s) accurately/correctly based on prescribed formulas.
- Understands how to operate and use the paint booth, humidity control and drying times/cure rates and control appropriately during the painting process.
- Understands proper spray techniques and spray gun maintenance.
- Sets spray parameters according to part instructions.
- Supports and follows ISO9001-2000 guidelines and directions.
Knowledge & Skills
- Possess high attention to detail
- Has at least 2 years of automotive or aircraft finish coat spray painting experience, or previous slurry paint experience.
- Reads and follows technical instruction in travelers.
- Comprehends and can record numbers in proper units of measure.
- Comprehends technical drawings.
- Uses caliper, micrometer, scale, calculator, and various other measuring devices.
- Participates in quality management system basic training (based on ISO9001)
- Practices proper safety guidelines and wears appropriate Personal Protection Equipment.
Education
- High school diploma or GED

Paint spray experience (industrial/auto, not house painter)
